Calligraphy is defined as the form of handwritten lettering or decorative writing by hand. For centuries now, people from all over the world have produced calligraphy by the use of special ink pens or brushes and ink. Regardless of what tools are used, calligraphy exists for one simple reason: emphasizing the appearance and beauty of handwriting with the inclusion of line quality and expressiveness.
Calligraphy is innumerably important for cultures from all over the world. It existed before the time of typing something on the computer and choosing a beautiful font; it needed to be crafted, by hand, which took time. The calligraphy that has survived centuries only to be discovered recently teaches historians about the dedication and skill calligraphers of the original days must have had.
